Angela Frazer-Wicks MBE is a birth mum, her eldest two children were adopted in 2004 after a very long and fraught battle with her Local Authority due to domestic violence and mental health issues. She is now married with a young daughter who has had no Local Authority involvement. In 2020 she was reunited with her eldest son. She was awarded an MBE for services to children and families in the King's Birthday Honours List in June 2023.

Angela is Chair of Trustees of Family Rights Group (FRG) and founding member of FRG’s parents panel.

Angela is now a renowned advocate, trainer and expert on parents’ lived experience and has contributed a parent perspective to multiple high-profile debates on child protection and adoption, and to policy design and implementation.

Angela has served on a number of national advisory boards, including for the President of the Family Division, CAFCASS, the Department for Education and the Family Justice Council. She is currently an expert member of the DfE Implementation Board for the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care (CSC) (2022). 

Angela has supported the Centre for Child and Family Justice Research, Lancaster University in ensuring the voices of parents shape research, intervention design and implementation (2019-2022) and worked with birth parents to translate their experience for film, journalism and exhibitions. As part of the high-profile Born into Care series (Lancaster University), Angela has been instrumental in ensuring co-design of interventions which aim to minimise distress for parents involved with family court proceedings.

Angela has been interviewed for multiple print media and her story has been featured by BBC Radio 4 and Woman’s Hour. Angela has also developed training for multiple local authorities.
